If you are an Indie Author, be part of the WORDSOUT Indie Author Showcase.
The WordsOut Indie Author Showcase will feature the works of independently* published authors at the Darlington Arts Festival 5-6 November, 2022.
The aim is specifically to help raise the profile of self-published books before a substantial and diverse audience over the two day festival. As a result, it is hoped readers will leave with a better understanding of our publishing culture around self-published works.
There is a bit of a vetting process and selected author/publishers will be asked to contribute a participation fee of just $20.00. This fee covers the festival space costs and contributes towards the promotion of the initiative. All revenues (100%) from any sales of books, however, will be paid to the author-publishers.
To qualify, the books included must be self or independently published.
There are one or two other requirements in order for authors to participate:
They must complete our registration form (no registration data will be shared with anyone on or off-line)
They must supply a sample of work so we can assess its suitability for inclusion
If included in the showcase they must supply sales stock of at least 6 copies of each book (we will permit up to two different titles per author-publisher)
And they must be available for an appearance to discuss, read and/or sign books during the two days of the event (a requirement of the Darlington Arts Festival).
The Indie Author Showcase is limited to a maximum of 20 participants.
If this sounds like something that might work for you, please visit www.crotchetquaver.com/wordsout for further details and to access the registration form. If you have any questions that are not answered there, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Registration closes on Friday 16 September. We look forward to having you on board.
*For the purpose of this program, independently published means books published and presented by authors which are not contracted to a mainstream publisher for publication and distribution, but are published and distributed by the author, even though third parties may be engaged for parts of the process. For the most part, self-published and independently published are interchangeable terms. All authors with work included in this showcase must be available for a reading/signing/author talk at the event.
